Questions & Answers
What is Low Air Loss?
Low air loss is a technology that reduces body moisture from the user. The surface has controlled air release that reduces moisture through evaporation. Excess moisture in the skin due to incontinence or perspiration is a potential source of skin breakdown.
What is Alternating Pressure?
Alternating pressure relief surfaces remove pressure on load bearing points through controlled sequencing. This is achieved by alternate cells in the surface being deflated so as to achieve complete offloading and allow circulation to return to area.
What is the difference between Alternation Pressure and Pulsating technology?
Pulsating technology attempts to change body surface loading by varying the inflation level of a support surface. In this system, the entire mattress inflates to varying levels over a set period of time, thereby increasing and decreasing skin surface pressure.
Alternating pressure technology involves using a support surface consisting of many individual chambers which inflate and deflate in sequence, ensuring that 1/3 of the body is completely unsupported at all times, thereby assuring capillary flow to the unsupported areas.
